Our dedication to Individual Well-being unites us

Who We Are

Partnering to build a world where everyone has an equal opportunity..

Jenga means ‘build’. JeViVo focuses on improving people’s lives in the community especially the vulnerable as well as linking them with other players to address the challenges they face.

JeViVo is a registered organization in both Kenya and Switzerland and is mainly concerned with the well-being of orphans and vulnerable children, mistreated women, widows, widowers, men, women, people with disability, and youths who are disadvantaged due to their economic, and social and cultural background.

We also engage in activities of environmental conservation such as planting trees, permaculture, and soil erosion prevention. The area faces various challenges, but many of them can be prevented at the village level. As the community becomes more and more developed, people will be exposed to less health, poverty, and illiteracy risks and enjoy a higher standard of living and, therefore higher quality of life.

Our Approach

Our Story

In 2018, Dominic and local youths from Shikumu Village, Kenya, initiated community volunteering to combat poverty and foster peace. Switzerland natives Elena and Jasmin participated, noting significant health challenges in the village, particularly among children and pregnant women. This inspired Elena and Jasmin to launch fundraising efforts upon returning to Switzerland, focusing on supporting vulnerable individuals, including orphans and children with disabilities, in Shikumu Village. With the help of family and friends, they raised funds to provide medical care and assistance to the community. Despite living in Switzerland, Elena and Jasmin remained deeply committed to the village, frequently visiting and maintaining active involvement. In 2019, Dominic gained insight into Western living standards through a volunteer exchange program in Germany. Upon his return, Dominic and Elena collaborated to establish a community center in Shikumu Village, initially focusing on a daycare facility and meeting spaces. The project was officially registered both locally and in Switzerland to expand its visibility and support network. Their approach emphasizes community empowerment and ownership, prioritizing sustainable development through local engagement and the exchange of ideas. Dominic, Elena, and their team aim to foster lasting positive change in Shikumu Village and beyond, empowering the community and promoting self-reliance for a better future.
